South Africa is bracing itself for one of the coldest winters on record and no one will be spared the freezing weather.
Naturally, the less fortunate and the old become more vulnerable to the flu and colds as they are easily exposed to freezing nights.
The electricity crisis does not help matters and many will be hit hard in the pocket trying to buy winter essentials.
However, the elderly in Maditlokwe in Rustenburg will not have to worry about buying expensive blankets, thanks to TKR Operations.
The mining company has donated 54 blankets to the elders of the community.
The donations were made as part of the launch of their “Run up to Mandela Day” programme, in which they spent 67 minutes with the elderly.
Among the high-profile attendees was honourable councillor John Saleng, who encouraged the company to continue with the good work in the community.
“We are grateful to TKR Operations for this donation. This will assist the elderly and the vulnerable in the coming cold winter days,” Saleng remarked.
“These are the kind of initiatives that we encourage, and we hope that the company will grow and continue to assist the community.”
TKR Operations has been in operation since 2018.
They have continuously touched the communities of Rustenburg, Marikana and Maditlhokwe through the SLP department of Tharisa Minerals.
The COO for TKR Operations, Adriaan Peyer ” It’s important that we also get more involved with the community.”
